<\/b>In my previous 2 blogs, so far we have seen the fundamentals of networking in public relations<\/a> and how we can prepare ourselves<\/a> before jumping directly to the action part of networking.\u00a0 Finally, we have reached a level where we can put all our preparation into step by step procedure of networking. But wait! Don\u2019t you think we should still execute it in a certain way? Of course yes! Else, all our preparation will go in waste.<\/span><\/p>\n

So, let\u2019s quickly jump to the step by step procedure of networking in public relations or in general as well:<\/span><\/p>\n

Set a Goal<\/b>
\nLike any other event, we should start by establishing a goal for what we hope to accomplish through networking. You cannot create a good strategy unless you have a goal in mind. By doing so, you’ll be able to stay on task and cut out outside distractions.<\/p>\n

Know your target<\/b>
\nThis sounds like you are going on shooting! Well, networking can be similar. It is just that you don\u2019t kill or harm anyone in the process. Rest is almost the same. You first know your target, read about them, see in what ways you can share benefits and then proceed. Without knowing or researching about the person, it is baseless to go and talk.<\/span><\/p>\n

Find that hook<\/b>
\nWe sometimes become clueless on how to start a conversation and hold it. It is always better to be prepared beforehand. While researching about your target, find that one hook point on which you can start and hold a great conversation. This is very helpful, especially when you are an introvert.\u00a0\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Time for an elevator pitch<\/b>
\nOnce you have used your hook point, swiftly switch to your elevator pitch. By doing so, the person will start focusing more on you and your work. This elevator pitch should be ready before you come for networking as discussed in my previous blog.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Sharing is caring!<\/b>
\nWell, here sharing means how both the persons can be beneficial to each other in a networking. If you want to keep the other person\u2019s interest in your words then you have to show what benefit they can get in return. By showing how your interest matches with the other person\u2019s interests and how you both can benefit from that is the main hit of your networking. This is how you will take that relationship ahead.<\/span><\/p>\n

When meeting someone new, be sure to exchange business cards and follow up with a phone call or email. Attend industry events and make an effort to meet as many people as possible. You never know when a relationship you build could come in handy. In public relations, building a network can prove to be a boon for your growth in career. The more you network in public relations, the more you learn and get recognised. So, that\u2019s all on the networking in public relations. Till then, keep learning and networking!<\/span><\/p>\n
