I was no expert in writing and I joined SCoRe’s ACE writing programme, But even before that there are some ‘go to tips’ that I follow while writing blogs and I would like to share them with you all. I never thought I could churn out a blog every week but the reason I could create a dozen of them was to follow the ‘KISS’ strategy- Keep It Simple Silly!
Some of the things that I follow while writing:
- Keeping it simple: None of the topics I have chosen to write on are technical or difficult. All of them have been taken from the most basic subjects of discussion but I have shared my personal view on each of them.
- Using pointers: I have noticed that it is easier for me to write when I break the subject into points (like in this one). Writing in points helps me be clear, in flow and to the point. It also helps me express myself better because I can cover more things when I write in the said manner
- Research: Before preparing my points I do tend to research experts’ opinion about the topic. If I agree with what they have to say I put that point across in the way I see and understand it. I also ask for people’s opinion on a particular topic, present them in my blog and give due credit to them.
- Proof read: People who interact with me on a daily basis know that I am the queen of typos. I don’t mean to say that I am proud about it but this bad habit makes me extra careful to proof read the written piece repeatedly. I also seek seniors help to make sure that the final article does not have any typographical errors.
- Take friends and colleagues opinion in account: When I have finished writing blogs, I usually share it with a friend or a colleague to take their view on the piece. I often find myself taking their inputs in some form and finally share the final blog on our website.
I hope some or all of these tips are helpful. If you have more tips in mind that I could follow while writing, do share them with me. I hope keep the momentum going and maintain consistency in my writing for this section.
Happy writing!
