It majorly focuses on constructing the reputation of the brand and for that, PR consultants leverage a combination of PR tools and techniques.
Marketing and PR are the two monster functions of any brand. And both work in harmony with the sole intention to publicise products and build strong consumer relations. However, the immediate goal of Marketing is to sell whereas PR strives to create mutual understanding or to positively position the organisation with respect to its publics. PR is experiencing dramatic growth, and this constantly changes the role of PR consultant which then increases the career options in PR.
1.Publicist
Publicist is the primary job that pops up in mind when we think of a career in public relations. The role of a publicist whether in-house or in an agency is to build PR strategies and design innovative campaigns to popularise any product or a brand itself. Publicists have to directly deal with the clients be it a company, organisation, or an individual.
2.Content Strategist
A content strategist is a person who plans, communicates and executes content marketing strategies. It is the job of a strategist to create marketing campaigns and then measures the ultimate results. Individuals in this role are expected to understand business goals and select the marketing means to meet those goals. The daily work of a content strategist includes identifying the target audience, coordinating with the editorial team, finding suitable keywords and planning SEO.
3.Media Planner
The core function of a media planner is to map out suitable media channels to execute their campaigns. Media planners largely concentrates on targeting different modes of media that could maximise the reach of the campaign towards the target audience. These targeted modes could be radio, television, social media, print etc. Although work of a media planner doesn’t end here, he after executing the campaign monitors the performance and intimates the clients about the earned PR value for their campaign.
4.Corporate Communications Manager
Corporate communication jobs are widely popular and one of the highest paying career options in PR. It is the way through which any business or organisation communicates with its internal and external publics. These publics could be the employees, Investors, media, consumers and government agencies. Functions of Corporate Communication Managers may change depending on the nature of the organisation but the overall job of PR is to communicate with the media, maintain consumer relations, organise events, plan internal comms. and manage any unfortunate crisis that happens.
5.Digital Channel Manager
If you’re tech-savvy and intuitive with great marketing ideas then this job would be a fit for you. However, this job demands you to have a good understanding of digital marketing, social media and other web analytics tools. As a Digital Channel Manager, you could either work in-house or with an agency and will be responsible for managing social media accounts, measuring digital performance, planning SEO, preparing decks and coming up with analytical solutions. To bring out the best results you should be able to track trends and match industry standards on social media.
