Inspiration behind choosing public relations as a career: Blog by Nishika G.
Since the moment I got selected as a candidate at SCoRe, the question, “What made you choose this particular field?” came up very frequently. What intrigued me was how this field of work will give me an opportunity to shape people’s opinions.
I’ve been fascinated with the power of storytelling and communication for a long time. The way words and actions shape perception, build opinions and influence outcomes is a testament to the power of communication. Whether it was my mother telling me value based and moral stories at night, watching a movie that inspired change or reading a book which persuaded me to live life a certain way. All these things left a profound effect on me and very soon I realised the role of communication in shaping our world.
During my journey as an English honors student, I immersed myself further into language and storytelling and discovered how literature, media and culture blend together to create narratives that leave a great impact and resonate with the audience at a profound level. My inquisitive nature to learn more about new things drew me towards the field of public relations. And so, I embarked my journey as I started working in a PR department of my college society where I managed multiple events and forged connections with many individuals. It would be a lie if I said that there were not bumps along the road but I got the hang of how and when to switch gears. This was the moment which sparked my desire to pursue a career where I could use the power of communication to make a difference.
Public relations to me is more than just managing reputation, building relations or promoting a brand. It’s about developing a connection between the organisation and the audience. The ability to create positive impact in a society whether it’s about managing the crisis or advocating for social issues, PR Professionals have the opportunity to be one of the strong pillars for social change.
Furthermore, in this digital age, dynamics of this field excite me and make me feel challenged which further motivates me to broaden my horizons. The communication channels are constantly evolving and presenting new opportunities and challenges, this is where SCoRe comes in with its ability to keep up with the changing trend. The curriculum designed by them attracted me the most in addition to their commitment to help the students and make them industry ready.
In conclusion, I’m eager to start my journey at SCoRe and immerse myself in their program, learn from the industry experts to be one of the best PR professionals.
