When it comes to being an inspiration to young women professionals in public relations in India, one name stands out – Valerie Pinto. Valerie is the CEO in Weber Shandwick India. She started her career as a marketing communication professional with Taj group of Hotels, Cadbury’s India and Standard Chartered Bank. Valerie also held a communications role in UTV India.
Valerie considered her aunt as her inspiration in communication profession, who was the head of communication for L&T Group. Valerie decided to follow her footsteps and joined Perfect Relations in the IR (Investor Relations) Department. Subsequently she acquired experience in communications and image management.
Valerie had a great impact on the Public Relations and Corporate Communications professions in India as she had relentlessly built the Perfect Relations to become one of the largest public relations consultancies in India with over 400 professionals and 200 prestigious clients. Under her leadership, the firm has grown to become a favourite in the business sectors like consumer and lifestyle, corporate and finance, technology, litigation management, crisis communications and digital PR.
Not many people know that Valerie has been a national level Heptathlon athlete and a state level Basketball player.
Although the PR profession in India comprises 70% women, few lead large PR firms. As a CEO of a PR firm, Valerie has been a great motivation for women aspiring to lead in PR. She epitomises the fact that when women can create great impact in the world of reputation management through passion, honesty and hard work.
