“I never had a clue about Public Relations until the year 2021!”
Being a bio-math student, my ambition once was to become a gynecologist. However, due to personal reasons, I chose to change my ambition. At that point, my father suggested that I pursue a communication career. Before I did my research on it, I didn’t have a clue about communications offering various opportunities.
As a result, I ultimately decided that I wanted to pursue a career in public relations and completed my undergrad in mass communication and journalism. Obtaining certifications in various creative communication fields, such as digital marketing, social media management, and creative writing was something I preferred doing in the first year of college. Apart from that, I also interned as a copywriter and program facilitator after my college hours.
Working part-time whilst studying gave me a good experience on how one should balance life and work properly. Back in college, my batch organized a music-themed event as a required assignment, which gave me my first experience in public relations. Along with leading the CSR team and supporting the PR team, I was a member of the sub-core team. I think that was the only instance in college where I enjoyed a subject and completed my assignments.
I feel fortunate that the PR Profession is my stepping stone to the PR firms and Corporate Communications, where I am currently interning. My goal is to make a constructive impact on the PR and corporate communication sectors. In addition, I intend to educate people of all backgrounds about the variety of career paths offered to individuals in the journalism and communication fields.
