Wasim is part of the Summer Class of 2025 at SCoRe. He writes about his interest in Public Relations Course and Career.
I did my graduation in BAMMC from Rizvi College of Arts, Science and Commerce, Mumbai. The field of Communication has always amused me. There was a time when nobody spoke about Public Relations as a career. By Mass Communication people meant only journalism. I too, had a tough time in understanding what PR meant and what purpose it has. Although after completion of my UG studies, I was looking for higher education, I researched about the scope after graduation in Mass Communication and found Public Relations. After reading more about this profession I realised that PR is best for me. According to me PR is a classic way of writing, convincing and pursuing brands or companies. PR has a dynamic relationship between the brand and the public.
Choosing Public Relations (PR) as a career option stems from my passion for effective communication, storytelling, and fostering relationships. As a Mass Communication undergraduate, I have always been fascinated by the dynamic interplay between media, organisations, and the public. PR, being at the heart of this nexus, offers a unique blend of strategic thinking, creativity, and interpersonal skills, making it an ideal career path for me.

Firstly, PR provides an opportunity to shape public perception and build a positive image for organisations. In today’s fast-paced, information-driven world, how a company communicates with its audience can make or break its reputation. I am intrigued by the challenge of crafting compelling narratives that resonate with diverse audiences and enhance a brand’s visibility and credibility. This aspect of PR aligns with my interest in storytelling and my desire to create meaningful connections through words and actions.
Furthermore, the dynamic nature of PR appeals to my love for variety and constant learning. As a result, PR professionals must stay abreast of the latest trends, technologies, and cultural shifts to effectively manage and anticipate public sentiment. This continuous evolution ensures that no two days are the same, providing a stimulating and engaging work environment. My Mass Communication coursework has not only equipped me with a broad understanding of media landscapes, audience behaviour, and communication strategies. I am eager to apply in real-world PR scenarios. Whatever I study in Public Relations course will help me in my career.
Another significant reason for choosing PR is the impact it can have on societal issues. PR practitioners often find themselves at the forefront of advocacy and corporate social responsibility initiatives, using their skills to promote positive change and address critical challenges. Moreover, this aligns with my values and my aspiration to contribute to society in a meaningful way. Whether it’s raising awareness for a social cause, managing crisis communications, or championing sustainability efforts, PR offers a platform to make a difference.
Additionally, the interpersonal aspect of PR is particularly appealing to me. Building and maintaining relationships with clients, media, and the public require strong communication and empathy. Furthermore, I enjoy interacting with people, understanding their perspectives, and finding common ground to foster mutual understanding and cooperation. My experiences in group projects, internships, and extracurricular activities have honed my ability to work collaboratively and adapt to different communication styles, further solidifying my interest in a PR career.
